Ireland’s classical golden harp, here depicted with the rarely used silver stag crest. This version is based on the royal warrant of king George III.

The coat of arms itself dates back to 1542 and the Crown of Ireland act, when Henry VIII of England declared himself king of Ireland. The title had previously been abolished by the pope in the 12th century.
