While the seal of New York City includes a coat of arms, it lacks any hatching indicating colour. Official sources are also monochrome, making a possible colour scheme anyone’s guess. The renowned heraldic artist and author Hugo Ströhl included the arms of New York in his collection of civic heraldry in the book series Decorative Models from 1900. This depiction has his colour scheme.
