The arms of Tallinn are based on the arms of Denmark, and has been in use since the 13th century. It dates back to the Danish rule, but unlike the arms of Estonia, the arms of Tallinn have crowned lions and a crest. It is in use to this day. This depiction is based on a city hall stone carving from 1652.
